A curated panel dedicated to highlighting the vast intersections between Hip Hop culture and fashion. The event included panelists ranging from costume designers, stylists, archivists, and student designers. Attendees were able to hear the perspectives and stories from trailblazers within a highly exclusive and gatekept industry.
In collaboration with the non-profit, Girls Make Beats, DJ Mil House delivered an interactive instruction for students interested in DJ'ing. Beginning with the basics of DJ'ing as a career path and industry she then gave students a hands-on lesson on how to properly use a DJ controller.
Sponsored by Atlantic Records and recording artist, Pink Sweat$, students were given a pajama-themed movie night for Netflix's Entergalatic to decompress from their final exams. Students were provided with food, hot chocolate, and complimentary pink blankets to enjoy the film in comfort.
In celebration of Dess Dior's debut project, RAW, SCWHHC curated a student listening party and meet and greet with the rapper. Not only were students able to hear the project before other consumers, but were also able to discuss the music-making process directly with the artist.
At the start of Spelman and Morehouse's homecoming festivities, the SCWHHC conducted a panel with successful Spelman alumni trailblazing the music industry. Not only were students given advice from those that came before, they were also given space to network with those around them with similar ambition and interests.
Rapper and friend duo, Kaliii and Rich Nanni, sat with students to discuss fame, friendship, and the music industry. Students were given the chance to ask the duo personal questions and take pictures.
A curated on-campus event with rapper and model, Rubi Rose, to celebrate the release of her mixtape, 'Suburban Hood B*tch'. Along with a first listen, students were given a window into Rose's artistic process with a live interview conducted by members of the SCWHHC team.
With transportation provided by the SCWHHC, students were given the opportunity to meet singer-songwriter and actress, Coco Jones. Along with the meet and greet, students were able to sit in on an intimate interview with Jones discussing her career, personal life, and future music.
